Special ColdFusion 8 Release Party -- August 14 at 6:00pm

Adobe announced the immediate availability of ColduFusion 8 today. The latest version features improved performance, better development and management tools, as well as few nice little goodies, like image tweaking out-of-the-box.

This special meeting is August 14th at 6:00pm (our already scheduled time) at the offices of Penobscot Bay Media, LLC, in Camden, Maine. Penobscot Bay Media has moved up the street to 51 Mechanic Street, Suite 300.

The meeting will feature a pre-recorded presentation on ColdFusion 8 by Ben Forta (ColdFusion Guru Extroadinare). This is an exclusive presentation for Adobe sponsored user groups. Due to the nature of the technology used for this presentation, we will not be able to offer remote developers to join us for this meeting. If you want to see it, you must attend in person.

Since we're celebrating, we'll have some great raffles: CF8 and Scorpio (the pre-release code name) schwag, as well as a full license for ColdFusion 8 Standard. I'll try to get a DQ ice cream cake and some other goodies as well. [New Update:]Marsee Henon at O'Reilly has sent along some books for raffle (CSS, Flex, and AS3 titles). And Cheryl Martinez at Friends of Ed/Apress is trying to get some books here by our meeting, too.

And, as always, the more meetings you attend, the better your chances for our big drawing in December for a free Adobe software package.

All are welcome.

Hope to see you there. For more info, please email Kirk Holbrook: kholbrook [at] gwi [dot] net.

stompy's Gravatar i dont see a forum for general topics so i am posting on this thread, which seems to be the most current.
Who's going to the flash forward in beantown?

Is there a list of freelance style develpers?

I have a suggestion, to help foster more of a community, perhaps create a way to add topics and such found in standard php style forums.

thanks,
Stomp.

Kirk Holbrook's Gravatar Hi Stomp,

I'm not sure who's going from up this way. I think the cost is a factor for many.

There are a few of us (I think; I am for sure) going down to the AIR Tour in Boston on the 24th.

Yes, forums would be a handy addition to the site. I'll try to get something up soon.

Hope you can make it to a meeting sometime. All are welcome!

Kirk
